Vector quantization-based automatic shot boundary detection

چکیده
A compact video description is required to efficiently browse a multimedia database. A possible solution is the creation of a summary by using a set of frames (key frames) representing the content of each part of the video. To this end, a novel shot boundary detection method, based on a vector quantization approach, is presented. Experimental results show the effectiveness, in terms of computational cost and performance, of the proposed system.

Temporal Multi-Resolution Framework for Shot Boundary Detection and Keyframe Extraction
Video shot boundary detection and keyframe extraction is an important step in many video-processing applications. We observe that video shot boundary is a multi-resolution edge phenomenon in the feature space. In this experiment, we expanded our previous temporal multi-resolution analysis (TMRA) work by introducing the new feature vector based on motion, incorporating functions to detect flash ...
متن کاملReliable Dissolve Detection
Automatic shot boundary detection has been an active research area for nearly a decade and has led to high performance detection algorithms for hard cuts, fades and wipes. Reliable dissolve detection, however, is still an unsolved problem. In this paper, we present the first robust and reliable dissolve detection system. A detection rate of 69% was achieved while reducing the false alarm rate t...
متن کاملAn Efficient Technique for Segmentation of Key Object(s) from Video Shots
The most fundamental task in video processing is to partition long video sequences into a number of shots and find a key frame of each shot for indexing and browsing. In this paper, we want to extract key object(s) instead of key frame. In order to do that, we extend our previous technique for shot boundary detection (SBD) to select two candidate frames out of each shot, then propose a new fram...

متن کاملShot Boundary Detection Based on SVM Optimization Model
Categorizing the consecutive video frames into shots is the first step for content-based video retrieval. Recently, more and more research has made use of support vector machine to improve the performance of shot boundary detection. However, there has not been a uniform standard for selecting parameters of support vector machine kernel so that it relies on numerous experiences to try, which is ...
